School life and education museum

The Museum of School Life and Education took its first steps on historic Tripodon Street. There you met it, participated in its activities, embraced its efforts, supported it in every way, loved it.

The Museum began its operation eight years ago with the vision and goal of preserving historical memory through the rescue, research and study of the history of education and schools. During these years, it has charted its own path with the extroversion that characterizes it and has highlighted the Plaka area as a place where history coexists with education and culture. It established historical educational walks, embraced reading activities, fairy tale festivals, experimental theatrical performances, musical and musical-movement events, painting exhibitions, and welcomed audiences from all over the world, transmitting the values of our education and our culture.

With the new year, 2022 is transferred to another building in Plaka , on a street loaded with memories and the action of one of the most important Athenian women: Agia Philothei. In the place where she founded the Monastery and the community which stood as a support for Christian and Muslim women during the years of Turkish rule. In the complex called "Parthenon" hundreds of women found refuge and were educated.

In this historic area, the Museum of School Life and Education, at 17 Agias Filotheis Street in Plaka, from January 17 , will continue on the path it has set out with many new activities for young and old. It is always held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs and collaborates with organizations, institutions and Universities that share the same goals and ideals.

The educational programs continue to be renewed and the Museum always provides the opportunity, with its exhibits, for an experiential journey into the history of education, while for scientists there is also rich material for their research and studies. The Museum of School Life and Education is aimed at all ages: its programs and activities are intended for children from 18 months old, while it implements special programs for school groups.

In this webpage, a team from Flickr organised a collection from the exhibitions in the Museum of education and school life, in 2017. The reason behind this is because, some people may wish to keep a blog of moments captured on their cameraphones, while others might prefer to showcase their best photos or videos publicly to gain online recognition. Alternatively, some may want to securely and privately share photos of their children with family members across the country. Flickr makes all these possibilities, a reality.
